Baytown weather, month by month

What it's actually like, so you can plan the visit, the move, or the outdoor thing.

• January — the best month nobody expects: highs in the sixties, lows in the forties, cold fronts every week or two that scrub the sky, the clearest views of the bridge all year. Rain some days. A jacket, not a coat. A hard freeze once a winter, and the town shuts for it.
• February — the same, warming; crawfish season starts; the first eighty-degree day surprises everyone; the fog on the river in the mornings.
• March — spring, briefly. Seventies, wind off the bay, the migration at the Nature Center, the first mosquitoes. The patio month.
• April — eighties, humid, storms starting to build in the afternoons, the wildflowers along 146. Still good outside; the Battleground's reenactment on the 21st.
• May — the door closes: high eighties, the humidity arrives to stay, the water park opens Memorial Day weekend, graduations.
• June — ninety-plus with a heat index over a hundred, afternoon storms most days, hurricane season opens, the Crosby rodeo. Everything outdoors before ten.
• July — the same, hotter. The water park, the library, the AC. Fireworks on the Fourth; Beryl in 2024 was a July storm, which is the reminder that the season doesn't wait for August.
• August — the worst month: ninety-five, humid, storms, the peak of hurricane watching, the water park closing at the end of it. School starts anyway.
• September — still summer for three weeks, then a first front around the twentieth that changes everything. Grito Fest at the end, ninety degrees at six in the evening. Hurricane peak; Ike was September.
• October — the reward: eighties, dry, clear, three good Saturdays in a row (Grito, Nurture Nature, the Market), every patio perfect. If you visit once, visit now.
• November — seventies, the fronts, Birding Week, the Turkey Trot, the lights going up. The second-best month, and the last of the Market.
• December — sixties, either sixty-five or forty on any given day, the parade the first Thursday, the plants sharp at night in the cold air. Rain some days; snow almost never, and when it does the whole town goes outside.
