Questions people ask
Goose Creek CISD posts its lunch menus on Nutrislice, in a free app or at gccisd.nutrislice.com, with printable menus on the Nutrition Services page of gccisd.net. The student and parent portals are linked from the district home page, and the dress code is a set of rules in the student handbook rather than a uniform. The same site covers the virtual school, graduation dates and online registration, and this page puts the pieces together for families in Baytown.

To use the free Nutrislice app, search for it in an app store and choose gccisd as the location. The full list of items served, with nutritional values, is at gccisd.nutrislice.com, and a printable menu is linked from the same page. Elementary students get a printed menu before each calendar month starts. Menus change with supply-chain availability, so treat the app as the current version.
Breakfast continues to be free for all students at all campuses. Lunch is free for students who qualify as free or reduced price, and adult prices are $3.50 for breakfast and $5.00 for lunch. The district does not post a student lunch price, so ask the campus cafeteria if you need one.
There are two ways to apply. The district runs an online application through a Nutri Apps portal linked from the district's Nutrition Services page, and paper applications can be picked up at each school office. A status lookup on the same page shows where an application stands, and eligibility follows the USDA income guidelines the district links to. The district does not advertise a district-wide free lunch program, so apply even if your household is close to the line. To put money on a meal account, the district uses MySchoolBucks, which takes credit or debit cards and electronic checks and has a phone app.
The district home page links a student portal and a parent portal, both on teams.gccisd.net, and myGC at my.gccisd.net. Start from the district site rather than a search result. If a login fails, the campus front office is the first stop, and the Goose Creek CISD Education Service Center, at 2610 N Alexander Drive, is listed as open weekdays 7:30 to 4:30.
Goose Creek CISD does not require a uniform, and the word does not appear in the 2026-2027 Student/Parent Handbook. The handbook sets out Dress and Grooming Standards on pages 14 to 16 instead, and it begins from the idea that students and parents may decide personal dress, provided it does not disrupt or detract from the educational environment.
The rules are specific. Shorts, skirts, skorts and dresses must reach at least fingertip length with the arms at the sides, and slits may not rise above that line. Shirt straps must be three fingers wide and stay on the shoulders, and bare shoulders, backs, chests and midriffs are not allowed. Holes and tears in clothing must sit below the knee, form-fitting pants such as leggings and tights have to be covered, and pants are worn at the waistline. Hats, caps and bandanas are not allowed inside the building unless approved in writing, and footwear is required, with house shoes, slippers and flip-flops out. Tattoos must be covered, unnatural hair colors are not permitted, and visible piercings other than in the ear are not allowed. The grooming standards also prohibit facial hair. A student who breaks the code is first given a chance to correct it, and if the problem is not fixed the student may be assigned to in-school suspension.
The online option is Goose Creek Virtual School, for students in grades 3 through 12 who live inside the district. It is fully virtual: daily live instruction on Webex, self-paced work on Edgenuity and Google Classroom, and 6 to 8 hours of coursework a day, plus required in-person events such as state testing and tutorials. The program asks for reliable internet, a dedicated learning space at home and a parent or learning coach. The gccisd.net/VirtualAcademy address forwards to the Peter E. Hyland Empower Academy site, where the application is a Google form reviewed at the end of each month. The Goose Creek Virtual School is also listed as the Virtual Academy, at 816 N Pruett Street, the same address as the Peter E. Hyland Empower Academy.
TEA gave the virtual campus a C (78) for 2026, with 75 students. The Peter E. Hyland Empower Academy, for grades 10 through 12, earned an A (93) with 105 students. IMPACT Early College High School, at 1415 Market Street, ties students to Lee College and earned an A (96); the schools page compares the specialty campuses. Families outside the district cannot simply enroll: open enrollment for 2026-2027 has closed, and placement notices went out July 20 to 30, 2026. Check the district's open enrollment page for the next window.
The Baytown Economic Development Foundation cites a 94.9 percent Goose Creek ISD high school graduation rate without naming the class year, so treat it as a rough figure; TEA's accountability reports give the official rate by class. The district lists the 2027 ceremonies. IMPACT Early College graduates on Friday, May 21 at 5:00 p.m. and Stuart Career Tech High School at 7:30 p.m. the same night, both at Lee College. Goose Creek Memorial High School graduates Monday, May 24, Ross S. Sterling High School on Tuesday, May 25 and Robert E. Lee High School on Wednesday, May 26, all at 7:30 p.m. at Stallworth Stadium. The district also links a rain-out plan and live streams.
Returning students register online at teams.gccisd.net/registration and upload the most recent proof of residency there; the district says a student is not registered until that is done. New students start the same online registration, upload documents, then contact the campus registrar to book an appointment. Pre-K and kindergarten families also attend an in-person registration event. The documents are proof of residency (a current water, gas or electric bill or a lease), a birth certificate, a Social Security card if available and an immunization record, and new students add a parent ID. For the wider picture of how the campuses compare, the district earned a B (80) in TEA's 2026 ratings, and school life looks at belonging beyond scores.
