Not one we can confirm for this fall. The Baytown Area Quilt Guild's website has a Past Quilt Shows page but lists no upcoming show. The guild meets the first Monday of each month, and guests are welcome. Its annual auction was October 5. The next meeting is November 2. The nearest large show is the International Quilt Festival at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, November 12 to 15, 2026. There is also a small circle of quilt shops in Highlands and Crosby for anyone who came to shop.

What the guild does

The Baytown Area Quilt Guild describes itself as a 501(c)(7) organization and social club, and its site says it facilitates classes, lectures and exhibits. It meets on the first Monday of each month at St. Mark's Methodist Church, 3811 N Main Street, in the Wooster area on the north side of town. The meetings are lectures and trunk shows by visiting quilters. The site says guests are always welcome and that the guild is always looking for new members. It does not post member dues or a guest fee, so ask through the contact form on the guild's site before you go if that matters to you.

St. Mark's is a church campus, so the meetings are indoors in a fellowship setting rather than at a park or fairground. The guild's own calendar lists no outdoor quilt show, and neither does the city's parks and events listing.

The 2026 program calendar

The guild posts a full year of programs, most of them a lecture and trunk show by a visiting quilter, sometimes with a workshop the next day. The list below is from its 2026 programs page. Programs can change, so check the guild's site before you drive over.

  • January 6. Patti Roebuck, lecture and trunk show on her Lola and Viv designs, with a quilt-jacket workshop on January 7.
  • February 2. Toni Oyler on Judy Niemeyer quilts, followed by a two-day workshop.
  • March 2. Melinda Stanton on Lucy Boston designs and English paper piecing.
  • April 6. Scott Flanagan of 4th and Main Designs, with an Aurora Sky workshop on April 7.
  • May 4. Cyndi McChesney of Cedar Ridge Quilting on panel quilts.
  • June 1. Lisa Ellis on Cathedral Window quilts, with a workshop June 2.
  • July 6. Community service meeting.
  • August 3. Jan Fox on art quilts.
  • September 8. Cecelia Reid on the history of feed sacks.
  • October 5. The annual auction fundraiser, with refreshments at 6:30 p.m. and a live auction. This one has passed.
  • November 2. A lecture and trunk show, speaker to be announced. This is the next meeting.
  • December 1. The Christmas party, with installation of the 2027 officers, dinner and games.

Community service

The guild says it has donated over 550 quilts to nursing homes, hospitals and the Ronald McDonald House in Galveston over the years. It asks for fabric donations, unfinished quilts and volunteers for sewing and quilting, and its members donate crocheted afghans, kits and unfinished blocks. The guild also supports the Pregnancy Resource Center East, Love Network of Baytown, the Baytown Homeless Center and a police special victims unit, which receives donation bags of toys and books for children, and it collects canned goods and non-perishable food for the food bank at every meeting. If you want to give time to a cause through sewing, this is one of the few local routes. Our volunteer guide covers the others.

The closest big quilt show is the International Quilt Festival in Houston, November 12 to 15, 2026, at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

The big one in Houston

The festival's own site calls it the largest annual quilt show in the United States and describes over 1,200 quilts, more than 600 vendor booths and more than 200 classes, lectures and events, with classes starting November 10. Advance tickets are sold online through the festival's ticket link. The festival's site does not list admission prices or hours, so check before you plan the day. Baytown is about thirty miles east of Houston on I-10, and how far is Baytown from everything has the drive times outside rush hour.

Where to shop for fabric and supplies

The dedicated quilt shops are outside the city limits. Quilts and Creations, at 807 S Main Street in Highlands, is open Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 to 5:30 and closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. Its website lists classes and a calendar of events. Quilter's Quarters, at 306 Wahl Street in Crosby, is a fabric store. No hours are posted for it, so call before you go.

Inside Baytown, the big craft stores carry fabric, batting and notions. Hobby Lobby is at 4553 Garth Road, open Monday through Saturday from 9 to 8 and closed Sunday, and Michaels Stores, at 6614 Garth Road, is open Monday through Saturday from 9 to 9 and Sunday from 10 to 7. For a repair or a hem, Best Tailor and Alterations, at 2001 N Main Street, is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 6 and Saturday until 4, and Magnolia Sewing and Small Engine Repair, at 510 Magnolia Avenue in Crosby, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 to 5.

If you are visiting

The weather page has the current conditions if you are driving in for a meeting. The events calendar is where a new show would appear first, and the seniors guide has more on clubs and groups for older residents.

Before you go

  • Check the guild's site for the meeting date, since programs can change.
  • Bring a question for the contact form about dues and guest fees, which the site does not post.
  • Buy Quilt Festival tickets in advance online and confirm the hours before you drive.
  • Call the shop first if you are driving to Highlands or Crosby for something specific, since not every shop is open every day.
  • Bring fabric or unfinished blocks to donate if you attend a meeting, since the guild asks for them.
