Baytown's Christmas runs on two clocks: the one that says the parade is the first Thursday in December, and the one that keeps plant crews on shift while it happens. Both are true, and neither cancels the other out. The city's own Christmas Parade happens the first Thursday in December every year in Historic Downtown Baytown, which puts it on Thursday, December 3, 2026, the date on the city's calendar.

The route starts at Market Street and Lee Drive by Bicentennial Park, passes near Sterling Municipal Library and loops around Town Square. In recent years the Town Square Christmas tree has been lit at the start and Santa has closed the parade out; in 2024, the parade's 76th year, the city counted over 200 floats and vehicles behind a 6:30 p.m. start. The 2026 start time and any separate tree-lighting time aren't posted yet, so check the city's parade page.
The city holds it on a Thursday so school bands and groups can march and so it doesn't collide with weekend events such as Christmas On Texas Avenue, covered in the ACE District guide. The full walkthrough is in the Christmas parade guide.
Bicentennial Park, at 1001 Market St, is the start of the route. The city's advice is that there is no parking on the route and to skip the Citizen lot near Town Square. It points people to Memorial Baptist Church (600 W Sterling Ave, where the accessible spaces are), the Sterling Municipal Library lot at 1 Mary Wilbanks Ave, Bob Hope School (304 N Pruett St) for overflow and Lee College at 200 Lee Dr for late arrivals. More on the downtown lots is in the parking guide.
Town Square, 213 W Texas Ave, is where the tree stands and where the city's Holiday Hangout has been set up after the parade. The city's Hangout page now lists the 2026–27 season, which opens December 3 after the parade and runs through January 5, with a full-size outdoor skating rink, a new hay maze, glow activities, yard games and a toddler play area; see the Holiday Hangout guide. The city posts hours of 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 2 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and says it is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day; Saturday nights bring movies or trivia. Ticket prices are not posted yet. The 2025–26 season, December 5 to January 6, had a roller rink, mini golf, yard games and movie nights, paid activities at $5 for youth under 18, seniors and veterans and $10 for adults, and hours of 5 to 9 p.m. on weeknights and 2 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday; treat all of it as last season's.
The Art League of Baytown, 110 W Texas Ave, is two doors from Art Alley and keeps a holiday gift gallery in December, with gallery hours typically Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Baytown Little Theater, 2 E Texas Ave, stages "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" with performances Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5 and 11 and 12 at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees December 6 and 13 at 2:30 p.m. The box office is staffed only on performance days, from 5 to 8 p.m. for evening shows and 1 to 2:30 p.m. for matinees.
The Baytown Symphony Orchestra has closed out past Decembers with a "Christmas in Baytown" concert at the Robert E. Lee High School Auditorium, where student tickets are free at the door. The 2026 date isn't posted yet; the orchestra's performance page will carry it.
The Lee College Performing Arts Center, 200 Lee Dr, hosts holiday shows through December. Its box office opens one hour before show start, and you park in the Lee College lots.
Mont Belvieu runs its own December calendar under "Christmas in the City": a Christmas market at Mont Belvieu City Park, a Christmas on the Hill Parade down Eagle Drive, plus a paid Breakfast with Santa, a ticketed Parents' Night Out and a free Pictures with Santa evening. In 2024 those landed across the first three weekends of December, and the 2026 dates aren't posted yet. Mont Belvieu Parks and Recreation's special events page will list the season. More on Mont Belvieu.
Crosby's Christmas Festival and Parade, organized through the Crosby-Huffman Chamber of Commerce, has run for over two decades and typically lands in early December. The 2026 date isn't posted yet, so ask the chamber or watch the Crosby guide and the events board. The tree lighting on Town Square at the Christmas Parade is the one sure thing.
Highlands, Beach City, Cove and Old River-Winfree don't run their own city-hosted holiday events the way Baytown and Mont Belvieu do. Their traditions tend to be church-based rather than public.
Neighborhood light displays change from year to year, and most are private homes that don't announce themselves. The Baytown Nature Center, 6213 Bayway Dr, and the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center, 1724 Market St, don't run a holiday lights program; the Nature Center is open daily except Christmas Day, and the Wetlands Center keeps weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed on city holidays. If you know a display worth the drive, tell us.
Toy drives collect in the Baytown area every December, among them Blue Santa, Toys for Tots and Salvation Army Angel Tree; 2026 dates and drop-off points are mostly unposted. Baytown Blue Santa runs through the Baytown Police Department, 3200 N. Main St. In 2025 it took in-person applications at the police department in early November. The 2026 dates aren't posted yet, so watch baytownbluesanta.com or its Facebook page. Toys for Tots posts local drop boxes at houston-tx.toysfortots.org. Salvation Army Angel Tree registers by zip code through the Greater Houston Area Command.
Churches post Christmas Eve service times in late November on their own sites.
Baytown Refining and the rest of the industrial complex along the Ship Channel don't shut down for Christmas, and someone is running the units at midnight on the 24th and the 25th both. Gift opening moves to whenever the shift-working parent is home and awake, and dinner sometimes happens on the 23rd or the 26th. Why a whole town turns itself into light says more about the season here than any listing can.
The National Weather Service's 30-year average for the days around the parade puts Baytown's normal high near 68°F and the normal low near 48°F, sliding to around 64°F/45°F by Christmas week. Bring a light jacket, and check the weather page since a cold front can still drop temperatures into the 30s.
Trash does not skip Christmas. Best Trash's holiday schedule says service for the City of Baytown continues as scheduled on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2026, while other Best Trash customers have no collection that day. The city has not posted 2026 office closures for Christmas yet. Baytown prohibits fireworks inside city limits, according to Chambers County's fireworks page. Burn bans have been in effect since September 17, 2026 in unincorporated Harris County and since September 24, 2026 in Chambers County, so ask the Baytown Fire Marshal about a fire pit inside city limits and see the burn ban page.
Leave the car at Lee College, the Sterling Municipal Library lot or Bob Hope School and walk to Market and Lee, because there is no parking on the parade route and the Citizen lot near Town Square is one the city asks you to avoid.
The Sterling Municipal Library was closed both December 24 and 25 in 2025 and the Nature Center closes every Christmas Day, so check hours before a holiday-week outing, and expect restaurants to set their own.
The 2025–26 prices and hours above are last season's. The city has posted the 2026–27 hours but not the prices, so confirm the 2026–27 prices on the city's Holiday Hangout page before planning a night around the rink.

Highlands, Beach City, Cove y Old River-Winfree no organizan eventos navideños municipales como Baytown y Mont Belvieu.
