Guide
A dog on a Baytown patio is a restaurant-policy question before it is a dining question. No Baytown restaurant has a dog policy we could confirm, so every name below is a patio to ask about, not a promise. Ask first, bring a leash and water, and keep a backup plan. Weather and management change a patio fast.

- Ask before sitting down, even if a dog was allowed last time. - Keep the leash short and the dog off chairs and service paths. - Bring water and a bowl unless the restaurant clearly provides them. - Skip the patio in dangerous heat. Pet-friendly is not the same as pet-safe.
Texas law lets a restaurant seat dogs on its outdoor patio if it chooses to. Health and Safety Code section 437.025 sets the terms. The restaurant must post a sign where people can see it saying dogs are permitted. The dog must reach the patio directly from outside, never through the building. The dog stays on a leash and under the customer's control, off every seat, table and counter. No food can be prepared in the patio area. Inside, it's service animals only, everywhere, and no manager can change that. So "pet-friendly restaurant" in Baytown means "a patio that says yes," and that's a short list.
The sign is the whole test. Call ahead and ask two questions: is the dogs-permitted sign up, and can the dog reach the patio without walking through the dining room. If the answer to either is no, the dog stays in the truck or at home.
- O'Neals on the Water, 2651 TX-146 Business, is the waterfront patio: fried shrimp, hushpuppies and Sunday afternoon music over the water. It is open Tuesday to Thursday 4 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 to 9, closed Monday. The lot fills on live-music nights. - Anchor & Hearth Woodfired Kitchen, in the Hyatt Regency at 100 Convention Center Way, has a patio where the tankers slide by. Dinner runs Tuesday to Saturday 5 to 9 p.m. with reservations on Tock. Order the oysters or whatever came out of the stone oven. - Heart and Whisk Bakery, 4618 North Main, is the bakery with a patio: cinnamon rolls and espresso, listed Wednesday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 8 to 5 and Sunday 8 to 3, closed Monday and Tuesday. One listing has Wednesday closing at 2, so don't plan a late Wednesday lunch there. - Black Bayou, 1930 Garth Road, is the Viet-Cajun room with outdoor seating. Garlic crawfish in season, a shrimp po-boy the rest of the year, beignets after. - Shawarma In Town, 407 West Baker Road, Unit V, has outdoor seating. Listings differ on the closing time, 8 or 9 p.m., so plan to be seated by 7:30. - Yepez Vineyard, 12739 FM 2354, is the winery with picnic tables, open Friday and Saturday noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 7. The drinks guide has the rest of the story. - The Chute, 4537 Garth Road, is the Garth Road bar with pool, drink specials and local band nights. Ask at the door about dogs, and check the bar's own site for hours. None are posted where we looked.
Food trucks are a gray area. The statute speaks of establishments with a patio, and a truck with a folding table is whatever its owner says it is. The rule is to ask the person at the window. Taqueria La Flor de Jalisco (Food Truck) at 1800 Massey Tompkins Road sells from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and is closed the rest of the week. For where the rest park, the food trucks guide and Garth Road are the places to start. The Market at Town Square is the one event where leashed pets are listed as welcome, rain or shine. The city runs it on the third Saturday of the month, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check the market's page for the month's date before you load the dog.
- Buc-ee's, 4080 East Freeway, posts a sign that pets are not permitted inside the building. It is a gas station with a deli, so lunch is in the truck. - Any dining room. Service animals only. A vest from the internet doesn't make one. - The Nature Center's trails and grounds. No pets past the gate, service animals excepted. The picnic tables are inside the gate too.
Bayland Park is where the pizza goes on a Saturday with the dog: leashed dogs are allowed, the park is open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the hilltop gazebo and lighted fishing pier are on site. Town Square on Texas Avenue has the lawn, the Saturday market and a food-truck lineup on market days. The city's dog park at Jenkins Park is covered in the dog guide, and the pet-friendly hotels guide covers where you both sleep.
Mont Belvieu's Eagle Pointe has The Pointe Grill with indoor and outdoor dining, open weekdays 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ask there like anywhere else. We have no confirmed patio policy for Crosby, Highlands or Cove, so the same two questions apply.
The sign at the door is the law. Where there's no sign, the manager decides. Pick the shade. A Garth Road patio in August is a dog-safety question before it's a dinner question.
Call the restaurant the same day and ask whether the dogs-permitted sign is up. A patio that said yes last month may not have the sign now.
Plan around heat from May through September, when pavement and patio concrete can burn paws.
Ask whether the patio has its own gate or entrance. The statute requires the dog to reach it from outside without entering the building. The statute puts the leash and seat rules on you, not the restaurant.
Which Baytown restaurants allow dogs? Patio only, and only where the sign is posted. The list above is where to ask. Can dogs go inside restaurants in Texas? No, unless it's a service animal. Is Buc-ee's dog-friendly? Not inside. Pet-friendly restaurants near Mont Belvieu? The Pointe Grill at Eagle Pointe has outdoor dining, so ask there.
The easiest answer is the simplest one: a picnic table, a bowl of water from the cooler, and a place where nobody has to be asked.
