Guide
Halloween in Baytown
Halloween here means a truck bed full of candy bowls before it means a doorbell. Trunk-or-treats at churches and schools do most of the work; door-to-door still happens in the older neighborhoods, and both usually land the weekend before the 31st.

Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday. There is no school the next morning, more of the trunk-or-treats move to the weekend before, and the streets stay busy later than on a weeknight Halloween. A note that applies to nearly everything below: small churches and school campuses change times late, so check the host before you drive when an entry says it is unconfirmed.
This week and next
- Thursday, October 8: Pumpkin Patch Story Time at the Living Hope patch, 11 a.m. (more on Thursdays below). - Saturday, October 10: Nurture Nature Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., free, at the Baytown Nature Center. - Saturday, October 10: Old River-Winfree Founders Day Festival, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a fall festival rather than a Halloween one. - Saturday, October 10: Fright Fest with Anime, a Halloween and cosplay market in Crosby, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Monday, October 12: Halloween air-dry clay for tweens at the Sterling Municipal Library, 5 p.m., free. - Open all month: Living Hope Pumpkin Patch, Wednesday through Friday, October 7 to 30.
Already happened: the Pre-Grito Party (October 2), Grito Fest (October 3), and the Monster Mash dance party at the library and the Living Hope patch opening day (both October 7). Grito Fest returns next fall; see the Grito Fest page.
The rest of October, by date
Wednesday, October 7 – Friday, October 30: Living Hope Pumpkin Patch. Living Hope Church, 7611 N. Highway 146, Baytown. The patch opened October 7 at 3 p.m., and the church's page gives the days as Wednesday through Friday, October 7 to 30. The church asks that costumes not be scary, that kids stay with an adult and that visitors dress modestly, and it bans drugs, alcohol and vaping on the grounds. Daily hours and prices aren't on the church's page, which points visitors to its Facebook page for them; check the church's pumpkin patch page before you drive over.
Thursdays, October 8, 15, 22 and 29: Pumpkin Patch Story Time. The city's calendar lists a story time out at the Living Hope patch: 11 a.m. on October 8 and 22, 6 p.m. on October 15 and 29, about 45 minutes each. Stories, fall fun and photo spots among the pumpkins.
Saturday, October 10: Nurture Nature Festival. Baytown Nature Center, 6213 Bayway Drive, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Free, no tickets, come and go, with stage shows, inflatables, live animals, bungee jumps, archery, a kid fish tank and food. It's the city's fall festival rather than a costume event, and a good one. On-site parking costs a small fee, cash or card; free parking with a shuttle is at West Town Shopping Center, 4220 Decker. Details on the city's events page, and the birding and Nurture Nature guide covers the day at the reserve. Host: City of Baytown Parks & Recreation.
Saturday, October 10, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.: Fright Fest with Anime, Crosby. Crosby Fair & Rodeo grounds, 14920 FM 2100. A Halloween and cosplay market with vendors and food, put on by an independent organizer, JB Events HTX, not by the fairgrounds. Check the event listing for tickets and changes.
Monday, October 12, and after: Halloween at the library. Sterling Municipal Library, 1 Mary Wilbanks Ave., runs free after-school programs all month: Halloween air-dry clay for tweens (October 12, 5 p.m.), pumpkin-patch dirt cups (October 19, 5 p.m.) and a Cricut Halloween tote workshop (October 21, 5 p.m.). The library's calendar on baytown.org has the details.
Friday, October 16, 7 p.m.: Trunk or Treat at Crosby Middle School. 14703 FM 2100, Crosby. Posted on the Crosby community calendar; the end time isn't listed, and it isn't on the district's own calendar page, so confirm with the campus.

The fifth year of a free trunk-or-treat hosted by Success On The Spectrum, an autism center, open to all ages and abilities, with music, games and contests. Costumes welcome. Details and free sign-up on Eventbrite. The host's own events page lists its October 23 trunk-or-treats but doesn't name Baytown or a 5:30 start, so confirm the time.
Saturday, October 24 (listed): the city's Spooktacular. The City of Baytown's calendar lists its Spooktacular for Saturday, October 24, under its activities and registration listings. In past years it was an indoor trick-or-treat run by Parks & Recreation. Time, place and cost aren't posted; watch the city's events page.
Sunday, October 25, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.: Extreme Machine Sunday, Crosby Church. The church's calendar doesn't say which campus, so check before you go. A free-form family day with game booths, a ninja warrior course, fire trucks, an auto show and 50-plus vendors; cost not posted. Not a Halloween event by name, but it lands on the same day as the Baytown trunk-or-treats. Details on Crosby Church's calendar.

Wednesday, October 28, 7 p.m.: Crosby Middle School Theatre Halloween Show. On the Crosby ISD district calendar, but not on the district's calendar page, so confirm seats with the school.
Thursday, October 29, 4–7 p.m.: Trick or Treat at Bay Area Rehabilitation Center. 5313 Decker Drive, Baytown. This one comes from an event listing, not the center's own page, so call ahead.
Thursday, October 29, 5 p.m.: Trunk or Treat at the library, Mont Belvieu. Goss Memorial Branch Library, hosted by the Chambers County Library System. The listing gives 5 to 6:30; confirm with the branch.
Thursday, October 29, 6:30–8:30 p.m.: Fall Festival, Crosby Church Huffman campus. 30673 Huffman-Cleveland Rd., Huffman 77336. Bonfire, trick-or-treating, family games, free admission and free food, per Crosby Church's calendar. Mind the burn ban note below.

Saturday, October 31, 5 p.m.: Jeeps Trunk or Treat, Huffman. Huffman Elementary School, 24403 E. Lake Houston Pkwy. This one comes from an event listing, not the host's own page, so confirm before you go.
Select nights, October 3–31, in Texas City: Terror Isle Adventures. 518 6th St. N., Texas City, about 45 minutes down Highway 146. Fourteen nights this season; general admission is $34.98, Skip the Line $52.07 and VIP $86.25. This year's theme is "From Below," and parking is free. The main haunt is intense and not for young kids; there's a separate, cheaper Kids Haunt. Nights and times on the haunt's site.
Nothing is posted for Highlands, Beach City or Cove, and no city in the area has posted official trick-or-treat hours. Old River-Winfree's Founders Day Festival is Saturday, October 10, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., a fall festival rather than a Halloween one. Huffman's Hargrave High School has a Boo Bash on October 27 and Huffman Elementary a Jeeps trunk-or-treat on the 31st. More dates land on the events board and this week's events as hosts announce them.
Costumes
The seasonal Spirit Halloween at 6934 Garth Road, in the Shoppes at Baytown, lists Monday through Saturday hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 10 to 9; the store sets its own hours, so check the chain's locator before a run.
Trick-or-treat norms
None of the cities around Baytown has posted trick-or-treat hours for 2026. In practice, door-to-door runs from around dusk to eight or eight-thirty, and it thins out fast after that. Porch light on means welcome; porch light off means skip it. That's the whole rule, and it's the same rule in every neighborhood on this site.
The closest thing to an official city Halloween event is Spooktacular, which the City of Baytown lists for Saturday, October 24, 2026. The city's calendar shows it as an all-day listing with no place, time or cost, and its list of activities sends you to the city's online registration portal for details, which did not show them when we checked. Confirm with Baytown Parks and Recreation before you go.
Getting there and staying safe
Trunk-or-treats concentrate a lot of cars into one church or school parking lot for about ninety minutes. Arrive a little early, park in the actual lot rather than the street shoulder, and expect the exit to be slower than the entrance. For door-to-door, walk on the sidewalk facing traffic where there isn't one, cross at corners, and put a glow stick or a flashlight on every kid — here is the actual chemistry of why that works, if anyone asks. Drivers: assume a kid in a dark costume will step off the curb without looking. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the same: around Halloween there are likely to be more pedestrians on the roads and in unexpected places, and children may dart into the street without noticing traffic. For trick-or-treaters it suggests a buddy system, obeying signs and signals, crossing at crosswalks or intersections, and wearing bright or reflective clothing.
For plant-shift families
A lot of Halloween here happens around a twelve-hour shift. If one parent is on nights, the trunk-or-treat that starts at 5:30 and wraps by 7:30 is often the version of Halloween that actually works — it's over before the overnight shift has to leave for the plant, and it doesn't ask a day-sleeping parent to be up and alert at 9 p.m. Door-to-door on the actual night is easier to split: one parent walks the block, the other hands out candy from the porch, and nobody has to explain to a six-year-old why Dad's asleep at three in the afternoon on a Saturday.
Fire, fireworks and trash
Burn bans have been in effect since September 17, 2026 in unincorporated Harris County and since September 24, 2026 in Chambers County, so a bonfire or open fire at a fall event is worth a question to the organizer. Baytown prohibits fireworks inside city limits, according to Chambers County. Halloween is not on Best Trash's holiday schedule, so the regular pickup day stands. The burn ban page tracks both counties.
The weather
Halloween on the Gulf Coast is usually still warm. The National Weather Service's 30-year average for late October at Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport puts the normal high near 83°F and the normal low near 61°F — costume for a warm evening, not a cold one, and keep a change of shirt in the car if the plan includes a mask or a full-coverage suit. A cold front can drop through in a good year and a bad one brings rain; check the weather page the morning of.
Before you go
Bring cash or a card for parking at Nurture Nature, or use the free shuttle from West Town Shopping Center on Decker. The church trunk-or-treats run about two hours, so arrive early and expect the exit to be slower than the entrance. The smaller churches and the city's Spooktacular have not posted times or places, so confirm those. Costumes at the Living Hope pumpkin patch should not be scary, modest dress is required, and children stay with an adult. And check the weather page the morning of, because a warm dry evening and a wet one send the crowd to different places.
