The feel

The refineries and the ship channel define Baytown; the fairgrounds and the river bottomland define Crosby. The two share a commute, a ZIP-code neighborliness, and not much else.

Where it is

Crosby sits north of Baytown, between the San Jacinto River and Cedar Bayou. The main road is FM 2100, called Crosby Lynchburg Road on the map and on most addresses; it also runs down toward Lynchburg and the ferry. FM 1942 is the second road, home to the school district offices. US-90, also called Beaumont Highway, is the other through road. Hare Road has the library and the park. The ZIP is 77532. The Fair and Rodeo

The Crosby Fair and Rodeo is the calendar. It is held in June at the Rockin C Arena, 14920 FM 2100, and in 2026 it ran on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6, with the rodeo at 7:30 in the evening both nights. The fairgrounds office, listed as Crosby Fair and Rodeo at 14920 Crosby Lynchburg Road, keeps short hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only, so call before you drive out to look at the arena.

Parks and things to do

Crosby Park, at 419 Hare Road, is a Harris County Precinct 3 park, open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the community center and the soccer field beside it. The Crosby Sports Complex, at 6800 Miller Wilson Road, is open the same hours and is where the youth leagues play. Crosby Library, at 135 Hare Road, is open Monday noon to 8, Tuesday and Wednesday 10 to 6, Thursday 10 to 8, Friday 1 to 6 and Saturday 10 to 5, closed Sunday.

Where to eat and drink

Crosby's food is on FM 2100 and its side roads, and it runs Tex-Mex, Cajun, barbecue and breakfast tacos. Tacos EL Jr, at 13110 Crosby Lynchburg Road, is the early one, listed Monday to Saturday from 4 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon and closed Sunday. Teapot Depot, at 5313 FM 2100, serves breakfast and lunch Monday to Saturday from 6 to 2, and Kipper Koffee, at 5815 FM 2100, opens at 5:30 on weekdays and 9:30 on Sunday.

For dinner, John E's Cajun Restaurant, at 14919 FM 2100, serves Cajun seafood and Southern cooking with beer and cocktails, open Tuesday to Thursday from 4 to 9, Saturday from 11 to 10 and Sunday from noon to 8, closed Monday; Friday is not on the listing we have, so call. Hector's Mexican Restaurant, at 105 Kennings Road, does fajitas, enchiladas and margaritas, and its listed hours cover only Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, 11 to 10. Maxwell's Smoke House, at 14933 FM 2100, is the barbecue stop, listed open 8 to 7 every day except Thursday. Casita Morales, at 12122 Crosby Lynchburg Road, is an evening Mexican kitchen that opens at 6 on Sunday morning and at 6 p.m. the rest of the week, closed Monday. Schools

Crosby has its own district, Crosby Independent School District, with offices at 815 FM 1942. Crosby High School is at 333 Red Summit Drive. Crosby ISD is not part of Goose Creek CISD, and the verified ratings file we use covers Goose Creek, not Crosby, so we do not print a Crosby rating. Check the state's school report card for the current year's rating before you choose an address for the schools.

Practical notes

Because Crosby is unincorporated there is no city hall. Harris County provides the services, and the area sits in Harris County Precinct 3. The fire department is at 123 South Diamondhead Boulevard. Flood risk is an address question: Hurricane Harvey in 2017 flooded communities along the San Jacinto, so ask for the flood history and an elevation certificate, and look up the lot on the FEMA map. A 100-year flood is a 1 percent chance in any year, which the Harris County Flood Control District puts at 26 percent over a 30-year mortgage. We have no commute figure for Crosby; it is a drive to Baytown, not a neighborhood hop.
