The written HERE

Five pages to start with

Everything on HERE is written to stand alone, so there's no required order. But if you just found this site and don't know where to start, these five do the job in sequence — five pages, maybe twenty minutes, and you'll have the lay of the land.

Start with what the town is actually known for, then the short version of how it got that way — ten minutes covers three towns, one oil field and a bridge. From there, a locally ranked list of what's worth doing, then a real 48-hour plan if you're putting a weekend to it. Finish with the glossary: fifty things locals say and mean without explaining.

Read them in this order or skip around — nothing here assumes you did the last one. It's just the order that made sense to us.

  1. 1.What is Baytown known for?

The orientation — the refinery, the bridge, the birds, the ferry.

  2. 2.A short history of Baytown

Three towns, one oil field, a refinery, a bridge — in ten minutes.

  3. 3.Baytown attractions, ranked by someone who lives here

What's actually worth doing, in order.

  4. 4.48 hours in Baytown

A real plan, if you're putting a weekend to it.

  5. 5.Only in Baytown: 50 things locals understand

The glossary — the shortest path to sounding like you've been here a while.
