Ring town
Beach City
A city of about 3,200 people on the northwest shore of Trinity Bay, roughly eight miles southeast of Baytown and a short drive south of Mont Belvieu. It incorporated in 1966 for one reason: to stay Beach City instead of becoming part of Baytown.
Ring town

What it is
Beach City is governed by a mayor and a five-member council, nothing more. It runs its own government page with current officeholders, which is the place to check rather than a name printed here; small-city councils turn over. The 1966 incorporation vote passed 103 to 4, and the city has kept its own identity ever since. The Beach City Municipal Office, at 12723 FM 2354, is open Monday and Friday from 8 to noon and Tuesday to Thursday from 8 to noon and 1 to 5. The Beach City Community Building and the Beach City Volunteer Fire Department share that address.
Where it is
The city sits in Chambers County, in ZIP 77523, which it shares with Mont Belvieu. The road that matters is FM 2354, which runs along the shoreline and is the same road as Tri-City Beach Road. Toward Baytown the road keeps the Tri-City Beach name, and Simms Road branches off it to the water, so a map search for one gets you the other. Point Barrow Road runs inland from the bay, with Total Pet Care and More at 9010 and Buzzooka Ranch at 9820. Mont Belvieu is a short drive north; Baytown is about the same distance the other way. The Beach City guide has the history and the flood detail.
The bay
Beach City runs about seven miles along the northwest shore of Trinity Bay, and the bay is the reason the town exists. FM 2354, the road that traces the shoreline, was nicknamed Tri-City Beach Road after World War II, when it was lined with weekend cottages for people driving out from Houston, Baytown and Goose Creek. Most of those cottages are gone or rebuilt as full-time houses, but the road still runs the same line, right along the water.
Living here
Lots here run bigger than a Baytown subdivision: acreage and half-acre bay lots are normal, and a lot of the housing stock is raised on piers, because it has to be. The National Hurricane Center put the Hurricane Ike surge in 2008 on the Bolivar Peninsula and in Chambers County generally at 15 to 20 feet, and Beach City sits on the same open bay. Buyers should check the FEMA flood map and the elevation certificate on any house here before anything else.
Parks and things to do
Yepez Vineyard, at 12739 FM 2354, is a family winery with an adobe tasting room, picnic tables and a patio, open Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 and Sunday from 2 to 7, and closed Monday to Thursday except for special events. The Yepez guide has the rest. McCollum Park is the city's park, named in the official history, with no street address in our listings. Buzzooka Ranch, at 9820 Point Barrow Road, is an event venue, so ask before you drive out.
For the water itself, Thompson’s Fish Camp, at 213 Simms Road, is a bait camp with a double boat ramp at the Baytown end of Tri-City Beach Road, listed open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Bring cash for the launch fee, and call before a launch in the dark, because ownership has changed and the hours have been late. Beach City RV Resort, at 9218 FM 2354, is the lodging on the road.
Where to eat and drink
Beach City itself doesn't have much of a restaurant row; it's a residential shoreline, not a commercial strip. The kitchen-table answer is Mont Belvieu, which has grown a real lineup: CHILUDOS Fine Street Tacos, at 9209 Eagle Drive, for street tacos, and The Toasted Yolk Cafe, at 13001 Interstate 10 East, for breakfast and brunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. Someburger, at 13399 Langston Drive, is the fast one. Baytown, about the same distance the other way, has the wider spread, from tacos to everything else.
Beach City, Baytown and Mont Belvieu
Beach City is squeezed between the two larger towns without belonging to either, which is exactly how the 1966 vote wanted it. Baytown is the closer pull for the hospital, the mall, and Pirates Bay; Mont Belvieu is the closer pull for schools, for the petrochemical jobs that pay a lot of the mortgages out here, and for a Saturday dinner that doesn't require a full drive into the city. Beach City residents tend to describe themselves as neither, bay people first.
Schools
Most of the city is zoned to Barbers Hill ISD, the district based in Mont Belvieu, which the Texas Education Agency rates A (93) for 2026. A smaller strip in the southwest corner, south of Seacrest Park Road, goes to Goose Creek CISD, Baytown's district, rated B (80) for 2026. Campus ratings and exact zones for this area are not in our verified data, so confirm which side of that line a house sits on before you fall for it.
Questions people ask
Is Beach City, Texas a good place to live? If you want bay frontage, acreage, and a short drive to Mont Belvieu or Baytown for everything else, yes; if you want a walkable town center or a restaurant scene, no, because there isn't one here, and there isn't meant to be. What county is Beach City in? Chambers County. Who is the mayor of Beach City, TX? Check the city's own officials page, which stays current. Is Beach City at flood risk? Yes, it's open bay shoreline in a county that took a serious surge in 2008. Read the flood map before you buy, not after.
Before you go
- The city office closes at noon on Monday and Friday, so call before you drive out for a permit.
- Check the FEMA flood map and ask for the elevation certificate before you make an offer on any house near the water.
- Confirm the school zone by address, because the line south of Seacrest Park Road splits Barbers Hill from Goose Creek.
- Yepez Vineyard is open only Friday to Sunday for regular tastings, so check its site before you drive FM 2354.
- Thompson’s Fish Camp is a bait camp and boat ramp that opens early, and ownership has changed, so call before a dawn launch.
Come for the bay, not the strip mall. Drive Tri-City Beach Road at sunset once before you decide anything, and bring the flood map with you.
